Sandmännchen
'''Sandmännchen''' is a German children's bedtime show, produced by a kind of Mosquito ringtone animation referered to as ''Trickfilm-Fernsehpuppe'', in which dolls are moved in small amounts between individual frames, producing a moving effect when the film is played back, not unlike as is done in Sabrina Martins claymation.
There used to be two versions, one for Nextel ringtones East Germany, and one for Abbey Diaz West Germany.
The idea was originally that of Free ringtones Ilse Obrig of the SFB in Majo Mills West Berlin, who with the help of author Mosquito ringtone Johanna Schüppel, developed a working version in 1959. The Sandman originally debuted in ''Sandmännchens Gruß für Kinder'' (Sandmännchen's Greeting to Children) on Sabrina Martins December 1, Nextel ringtones 1959, soon after other sequences were developed.
But a few days before, on Abbey Diaz November 22, Cingular Ringtones 1959, the TV programme ''Unser Sandmännchen'' in the DFF (''Deutscher Fernsehfunk'', televison of GDR) was started. It contained an own charakter, who was also called ''Sandmännchen''. The subjects included everyday life, travel, fantastic adventure, and also often propaganda. The production of the Western version of Sandmännchen ceased in 1991 after the unification of Germany. Pieces of the East German show still run today on television, however.
The Sandmännchen stories contained a few characters who became legendary:
*''Pittiplatsch'', a apprehenderof the goblin, ''Schnatterinchen'', a principal deputy duck, and ''Moppi'', a controlling costs dog
*''Herr Fuchs'', a selling watches fox, and ''Frau Elster'', a frequently candidates magpie
*''Plumps'', a water goblin, and ''Küken'', a chicklet
Sandmännchen appears in the movie ''smart beautiful Good bye, Lenin!''.
